Do you feel like you are spinning your tires?  Are you running around with work/family/friends and not going anywhere?  If you find yourself adding 5 items to your To Do list and only scratching 2-3 things off… you end up with a very long list.

The often discussed work/life balance is about performing all of your employment tasks while still maintaining the opportunity to pursue your passions.  A salaried employee today rarely “punches” a time clock but is expected to complete their work.  This flexibility has often created a situation where workers are spending 80-100 hours per week working for no additional pay.

Time is becoming one of our most precious resources and yet we often waste it on the silliest tasks.  The key to being efficient with your time is being realistic with yourself and planning accordingly.  As we have started the new year, make 2017 the year that you stop lying to yourself.

You know that project that is gathering dust in the corner?  Here’s a news flash – you are never going to do it.  That’s ok, you meant well, but it’s not going to happen.  Acknowledge that fact and move on.

Easier said than done, the key to proper time management is delegation.  By bringing in an expert to handle your onerous tasks you can free yourself from having to do them.  Tasks will probably get done quicker and better and could save you money in the long run when hadled by a professional.

I often find many clients and prospects need some assistance time managing their investment portfolios and personal finances.  In today’s information age they have a pile of articles and research reports that will help them navigate the investment world; and their inbox is littered with news stories, guru reports, and top 5 lists of successful investing.  When are they going to read all of this information? Don’t worry, they are all set to straighten everything out NEXT weekend.  Unfortunately, next weekend is always a week away.

The investment industry is littered with individuals who can help you start 2017 with a solid plan in place.  As an Investment Advisor for over 21 years, I have a deep set of contacts in the Vancouver area.  Please reach out to me to see if I can refer someone for you to delegate your financial tasks list to.  My question is, what will you do with all your free time?
